Spring Clean Yourself To Perkiness Today!
Any time's a good time to spring clean your mind, regardless of the season ....
Whether it's spring or autumn in your neck of the woods, it's always a good time to live an exceptional life rather than a mediocre one - I'm sure you'd agree? So [member_name_first] treat yourself to the first 5 steps in the Outshine Perky PlanTM today and start spring-cleaning your way to 'exceptional' without further delay:-
1. Get Clear & In Control
I'm willing to bet that you probably spend more time planning your next holiday than you do planning your life - which is quite an amazing statistic since we spend more time on 'life' than on 'holiday'! If you stumble through life with no clear plan or goals in place it's highly likely that you'll end up 'lost' and victim to the daily grind. However, if you get organised and design the life you want to lead you'll feel more in control and will have a clearer sense of direction and purpose. Sit down, work out where you want to go, what you want to achieve, and determine your direction - the clearer you get on all of these points, the perkier you will be!
2. Get Healthy
Now this isn't rocket science - if you're run-down, sick, tired and sluggish you're going to find it a struggle to be Perky. It's as easy as that. There's a truck-load of scientific evidence to show that healthy living can increase your happiness and it's also proven that exercise is as effective as anti-depressant medication in treating depression. Stop putting time into excuses and start investing in your well-being - get fit and healthy today!
3. Get A Bright Outlook
Optimistic positive people live longer, get sick less, are more successful, have better relationships, and are more likely to get promoted at work. Proven facts. Do you really need any more reasons to start having a brighter outlook on life? Decide how you want to see the world, and practice being positive. It won't kill you!
4. Get Together
Good quality relationships contribute to being Perky in various ways - both personally and professionally. They help your sense of wellness and provide a cushion to depression and stress. So get out there, build and maintain positive relationships, and promote perkiness today.
5. Get Perky Now
Live in the moment - stop saying 'When'! Why would you want to postpone being Perky until tomorrow, when you could have it today? No-one else can live your life for you or make you happy so put your Outshine Perky Plan into place today and put 'mediocre' behind you for good.

What you focus on is what you get!
What you focus on is what you get. If you focus on problems, you will get problems, and if you focus on solutions you will get solutions. Don't exclude all the other options and possibilities around you - choose your focus today and don't lose sight of it when there are bumps in the road.
Take a few moments out of your day, right now, to jot down 3 things you're focusing on. Then write down whether they are problems or solutions. If you are focusing on your problems it's time to reframe them, change your perspective, and focus on the solution instead. Simply having a conscious awareness of the choices that are available to you is the first step to finding focus.

What are you contributing?
All too often we focus on what we can get out of a situation or event, rather than what we can give.
I challenge you to spend today focusing solely on what you can contribute to those around you, rather than looking at 'what's in it for me'.
Choose to contribute as much as you can, and realise that you don't have to give up anything to make someone else's day more enjoyable. Some of the smallest gestures in life mean the most.
What can you do today that will benefit someone else?

Pain or Pleasure?
John McGrath, CEO of McGrath Estate Agents - Australia's fastest growing real estate company, once said "Remember, there's always going to be some pain in life. I choose the pain of discipline, to create a balanced life that I love living". Donald Trump is another successful entrepreneur who links so much pain to the prospect of being second-best that the thought alone motivates him to be as successful as he is - it's not the pleasure of success that drives him.
Everything we do is either to avoid pain or to gain pleasure, and these choices are what ultimately shape our lives. More interestingly, we will generally do more to avoid pain than to find pleasure. Take smoking for example - people who smoke typically link a lot of pleasure to lighting a cigarette and smoking it. They also associate a lot of pain with giving up smoking, and as they'll do more to avoid pain than to find pleasure, they continue with their bad habit. That is until the pain of smoking far outweighs the pleasure. Being diagnosed with lung cancer and going through chemotherapy would, for most, outweigh the pleasure of smoking. For some the pain needs to be more intense whereas others may find that financial implications, or bronchitis for example, are 'enough' to satisfy their desire to avoid pain.
Obesity is the same - the pleasure of over-eating is more enjoyable to many than the prospect of feeling hungry or the exertion of exercise. That is until obesity starts to effect their life to such a extent that what used to be pleasurable becomes painful, and when the scales tip and the pain outweighs the pleasure, then and only then, will their behaviour change.
The critical point here is that often people think that our intellect drives our behaviour. That's clearly not the case as even though we know the cigarette or double cheeseburger is bad for us we still reach out for it, because we're driven by what we've learned to link to pain and pleasure, and not by what we know is right or wrong.
So how can you change what you link to pain and pleasure? Firstly, just by having an understanding of how Pain vs Pleasure determines your behaviour put you back in the driving seat of your life. Focus on long-term pleasure and realise the need to break through short-term pain to achieve your ultimate goal. Pick an area of your life that you want to change and ask yourself these simple questions:-
* What pain have I linked to making that change?
* What pleasure have I gained from NOT making the change?
* What will it cost me if I don't make the change now?
* What pleasure will I get out of making the change now?
Take some time out to answer these questions fully and really turn up your emotions behind the answers. Only when you have a strong enough neuro-association with the pain and pleasure linked to an action will you make that all-important change.

Just Smile, Be Happy!
I went for my daily run this morning - the sun was out, the sky was crystal clear, in fact it was a perfect start to the day. However that didn't seem to be the case for everyone - there were no exchanges of 'Good Morning' or smiles, and most avoided eye contact.
So I made a point of saying "Hello" to everyone I passed which admittedly got me few funny looks, but I was pleased that I'd done the unexpected instead of staring at the ground and running on by. At the very least it made me smile, and I'd like to think that a few of those people around me eventually broke into a grin!
So my dare for you should you choose to empower yourself, is to smile at everyone you walk past for the rest of the week. Notice how it makes you feel, explore what it means to you to be positive, and see the reaction on other people's faces. No-one was ever killed by smiling so what's stopping you bringing a cheap 'n easy ray of light into your day, and perhaps someone else's? It's a dare, it's a challenge, it's your choice to make.

The Blame Game
You can't control all the events in your life, but you can control your response.
How often do you blame an event or someone else for the way you're feeling? Think about your week so far. Do any of these phrases ring a bell?
* He was so rude to me he ruined my day
* I'm stressed because the bus was packed this morning
* She shouted at me and put me in a bad mood
* My client was late which stressed me out
* I'm only unhappy because of the way you talk to me
* You made me feel really bad
* This company gets me down
* My job makes me unmotivated
No-one can make you feel anything, and no-one can control your response to an event or something that's been said or written. You, and only you, hold the remote control to your emotions and patterns of behaviour. We often accept that one thing causes another without actually taking any time to question whether there's a logical relationship between the two, and it's often far easier to pass blame rather than take responsibility ourselves.
Once you make the decision to be accountable for your emotional state and your subsequent responses you automatically think differently, behave differently, and therefore get different results.
Take the example of "This company gets me down". Does the company really have the ability to "get you down" or are you choosing to respond to external events in a certain way? Are you focusing on what you don't want rather than doing something about what you do want? Are you using dis-empowering language? Are you 'enjoying' the comfort zone of being able to blame someone else for how you feel rather than doing something about it yourself? "The Company" can not make you feel anything - only you can determine that.
So take responsibility today. Cast aside blame and put yourself back in the driving seat of your emotional well being. Enjoy being in control of how you want to feel, what you want to think, and what that means to you.

Whether you're thinking ABBA or Donald Trump right now, it's time to ask yourself - "Am I a consumer or an investor?"
As PM John Howard launches himself into the final leg of his election campaign he's urging Australian's to throw off the "cultural inhibition" of fearing success, saying that "growth is good; we should believe in it, we should aspire to it".
Prada or Gucci?
Absolutely Johnny, I couldn't agree more. However, when we aspire to success what does that mean for us in monetary terms, on a personal level? Are you thinking about the Porsche you want to buy, or the new pair of Manolo Blahnik's? (those are shoes for the boys out there!). Or are you deciding where to buy an investment property or which bank to transfer your business to to take advantage of their low interest rates?
The reality is that we can't rely on winning the Lotto to give us the financial success and freedom that we dream of. We need to plan, and we need to change our mindset from being a consumer, to an investor.
Dollar Dazzlers
Follow these quick and easy steps to becoming financially responsible:-
* Winning the Lotto is NOT a realistic goal. Set yourself some financial goals today - think about your salary, your savings, your property and share portfolio - what does financial freedom look like to you? You need to know here you're heading in order to get there.
* Live within your financial means - only spend money you have and ditch the credit card
* Get a good accountant and claim all the legal tax deductions you can
* Contribute to a savings account - transfer a set amount every payday into your account & don't touch it!
* Keep a spend-diary - write down EVERYTHING you spend for 1 month. You'll be amazed at where your money goes to and will soon realise how much more you could be saving!
* Ask for discounts - I saved hundreds recently in Bing Lee! Don't assume you have to pay the ticket price - just ask, you've got nothing to lose and DOLLARS to gain.
* Sell your junk - de-clutter and sell your old 'toot' on EBay - then SAVE the money you make!

The State of Stuckness!
For many years athletes have done all they can to improve their performance, from specialised training programs to nutrition and drugs. Nowadays the focus has changed. Whilst nutrition and training are critical, they now know that their mental state is key and no matter how strong their ability, if they're in the wrong state they won't get the results they're striving for.
What state were you in when you got up today? Are you having one of those fantastic days when you feel like you can conquer the world, where no challenge is too great and no-one get you down? Or are you having one of those days when you can't seem to get anything done, everyone's aggravating you, and the fact that there were no empty seats on the bus was enough to bring on emotional trauma?
In both scenarios, which lets face it most of us have experienced at one time or another, you were the same person with the same abilities. The only difference was your state and how you let your state affect your outlook and behaviour.
Check in with your state right now - are you:
• Emotionally - frustrated, irritable, dissatisfied?
• Physically - stressed, exhausted, tense?
• Mentally - unfocused, worried, distracted?
Would you like to be:
• Emotionally - excited, happy, content?
• Physically - relaxed, energetic, energised?
• Mentally - focused, confident, motivated?
The trick here is to become more aware of your state, as awareness proceeds action. When you notice that your state isn't quite what you'd like it to be, that's when you can choose to change it!
"If you don't consciously choose your state, one will be subconsciously chosen for you. So wake up!" - Chris Barez-Brown
There are endless ways to change your state and they don't have to be complex - as long as you feel a positive shift in the direction you want, then it worked! So try some of these today and get into a good state right now:
• Listen to your favourite music
• Move - get up, go for a walk, change seats, make a coffee
• Physical exertion - do some sit-ups, ride your bike, go for a run
• Talk & laugh with a friend
• Reframe - look at the situation from a positive perspective
• Take a deep breath, meditate, or read a book
By enhancing your state, you enhance your quality of life.
